Project: Research Facility
Critic: jonathan Levi
Program: 14 story tower, alternating floors of laboratories and art studios
Status: GSD Studio Project
This project identifies the core similarity between artist and scientist, and that is the desire to work independently as well as in a studio/lab. the architecture exploits this similarity by dividing the program into two principle blocks, one containing labs and studio, the other containing private offices. the two buildings are bridged through a series of sky bridges which bottle neck the two constituencies into an overlapping circulation path. The tower portion of the project is an extension of the lab block, and is intended to operate as an urban beacon for the newly expanded Harvard Allston campus.
